To date, some of the most memorable moments for me have happened during the Red PR brain storming sessions. Not only because of the huddle in which the sessions happen (think awesome red beanbags!) and not only because it is a time for which amazing and cut above the rest ideas are thought of for the client, but because I love nothing more than watching the creativity flow.

We are all familiar with the stereotype, the sour faced publicist, who does nothing but lunch, fluff and air kiss, dressed in designer clothing and inappropriately high footwear, armed with a fully fledged manicure and a sharp tongue.

I saw a recent quote that said “It is not what you buy, but what you buy into” and it really resonated with me as a service provider. As the MD of a consumer PR agency the brand value proposition of my business and my clients is always important. But how often do you think about what your clients are buying into when they engage with your brand and are you living up to that brand promise?

It doesn’t come up very often, now that I’ve been working for a fair few years, in fact a decade, but I occasionally still get asked what I studied at university.

A long way from home.

I come from a tropical little island in South East Asia called Singapore. Being a final year student at Singapore Management University I was on a quest to do a work and travel experience in Australia, and after poking around a little was told that Red PR was one of the best places to be if I wanted to learn about the inner workings of a lifestyle and communications agency. And I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed. Along with an amazing work culture that exudes professionalism, freshness and dynamism, Red boasts an impressive range of clients, which allowed me a clear snapshot glimpse into the world of public relations.
